The weekend before last I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah and Gary (who’s wedding I photographed Saturday) at Priory Park in Southend.

We arranged to meet at the park for their pre wedding shoot, which gave us an opportunity to meet before their big day and discuss any questions they may have had.

Most importantly we have a mini, fun, photo shoot allowing me to get them comfortable in front of the camera to make for the best relaxed wedding photographs on their big day.

I had some great news this week from The Guild of Photographers when I found that my Qualification Submission had been passed.

“Becoming ‘Qualified’ with the Guild involves a very rigorous assessment process as not only is photographic talent assessed but customer service as well – probably the most demanding test of all! The award is granted only to photographers who can evidence that they deliver high quality images, products, and customer service. Gary Derbridge is now one of only around 50 people in the Country to hold this title, which shows how good an achievement this award is!

Members of the Guild are committed to achieving the highest standards of professionalism for the benefit of their customers. They pledge themselves to delivering the highest standards of customer service and to a journey of continuing professional development.”

Party & Event photographer Essex – Clay’s 30th

Last weekend I photographed Clay’s 30th birthday party at Hullbridge Sports and Social Club in Essex. It was a surprise birthday party so I arrived before Clay had got there to make sure I could capture his entrance.

Once Clay arrived I photographed both posed and natural shots of his birthday party unfolding throughout the night.

Wedding photographer at The Rochford Hotel – Vicky and Louis

This weekend just gone was another busy one for both myself and my second photographer Paul, as we photographed another wedding at the very popular Rochford Hotel.

It is such a fantastic venue to photograph at as the staff there are superb and really accommodating and the grounds are fantastic.

This week it was the wedding of Vicky and Louis whose engagement shoot I photographed a few weeks back (click here). I met Louis nice and early with his groomsman whilst he was watching the football in the bar area relaxing. We photographed a few shots of him and his groomsman and then it was onto meet the bride in the bridal suite.

It was a fantastic day, and really relaxed. The wedding went very smoothly and the weather was definitely in our favour as the moment we stepped out of the ceremony the sun come out!

Vicky & Louis engagement shoot – The Rochford Hotel, Essex

This weekend I met Vicky and Louis for their engagement shoot at The Rochford Hotel, Essex. I am photographing their wedding there later this month so the engagement shoot was a chance for us to meet before. The shoot allows all of my couples to get comfortable in front of the camera before their big day. We meet a couple of weeks before the wedding so that everything we talk about is fresh in our minds for the wedding itself.

Rebekah & Gareth’s wedding at Friars Baptist Church & The Lawn

Yesterday I photographed Rebekah and Gareths wedding at Friars Baptist Church and The Lawn. I recently added a blog post with the photographs from their engagement shoot at East Beach which can be found here.

I met Rebekah, with her mum and bridesmaids first thing in the morning at The Lawn, Rochford. I photographed their preparation photographs and all of the little details from the day. Throughout the day both the second photographer and I captured lots of formal and informal photographs of the day unfolding.

We stayed right the way up until the first dance and managed to get some fantastic photographs, especially back at The Lawn.

Lynn’s 50th birthday party – Essex Event Photographer

Last weekend I photographed Lynn’s “Awards Night” 50th birthday party at her home in Canvey Island, Essex. I arrived before the party started to capture some shots of Lynn and her family before her guests started arriving.

I then photographed all of Lynn’s guests arriving on the Red Carpet with their friends and families.

Kristie & Steve’s wedding at Forrester Park Golf Club, Great Totham, Essex

2 weeks ago I was up in Great Totham photographing the fantastic Kristie and Steve on their wedding day. Kristie and I have been friends since school, so it is always nice to work for a friend!

My second shooter and I arrived at the wedding venue with plenty of time to spare, and photographed all of the little details that Kristie and Steve had put so much effort into. The cake, table set ups, table plan, wedding flowers etc.

We stayed the whole day right up until the start of wedding breakfast and managed to get some fantastic photographs throughout. Below you can find a few photographs from their wedding day, for their whole gallery click here.

Rebekah & Gareth’s engagement shoot – East Beach Shoebury

The weekend before last I met with Rebekah and Gareth at East Beach Shoeburyness to photograph their engagement shoot. They are getting married at Friars baptist church and then onto The Lawn next month. As with all engagement shoots it was a chance for us to meet again a few weeks before the wedding day and get comfortable together.

Just as the shoot started, the sun cam blaring out so it was a beautiful day to be on the beach, yet the it made the lighting conditions a little bit more difficult. I used fill in flash to create some really lovely images, some of which can be found here:

I am now really looking forward to photographing their wedding next month, and I know that I will be able to capture some great relaxed images now that they have had the engagement shoot. I have found it really does help to get rid of any nerves the bride and groom might have about photography on their wedding day.
