Emotion

Photography tips by Gary Derbridge

When photographing any bride and groom at a wedding, emotion between the subjects is essential. Many photographers just set up a standard pose, get the couple to look at them and snap away. Now I am not saying these pictures do not work because they do! I have a few in my portfolio of wedding pictures. But to get real emotion from the bride and groom sometimes you do not need the couple even looking at the camera. Next time you are taking your bride and groom portraits, ask the couple just to talk to each other and interact while you step away for a little while. Put a nice long lens on your camera and try to capture the emotion between the couple. Laughs, kisses, and even the looks they give each other can really create stunning images you cannot get from just asking them to look at the camera. Give it a go…. you will love the results!
