Rule of Thirds
The Rule of Thirds is a basic technique to make the photos you take look better. Most people when taking a photo try to get the subject (what you’re taking a picture of) in the centre of the photograph. Now 9/10 times there is nothing wrong with this method, but sometimes by applying The Rule of Thirds, you can add some difference to your photography.
Imagine dividing your camera frame in to 9 boxes meaning you would end up with something like this.

Most people would place the subject within the centre box making for a fairly well composed photo, but sometimes a little boring. The Rule of Thirds allows you to play with the subject’s position in the frame. Next time try putting the subject on one or more of the intersecting points. Here is an example.

The Rule of Thirds can help make an image more attractive and appealing. There have actually been studies that suggest lots of people’s eyes automatically go to one of the intersecting points and not actually the centre of the image. Next time you take a photograph give it a go… It works!
