Featured Wedding at Channels Golf Club
Our next wedding to feature on the Blog is of Megan and Andy, who tied the knot at Our Lady of Ransom followed by their wedding reception at Channels Golf Club in Chelmsford. I had met Megan and Andy at Megan’s brothers wedding, and they decided to go ahead and book me. It was great to work with all of the family again! Here is the feature about their big day.
How did you meet?
Andrew and I met at a nightclub on a university night out in Cambridge.
What Wedding Venue/s did you choose and why?
We only looked at Channels Golf Club and fell in love instantly. We like a modern décor look and we felt that Channels had both the modern aspect yet something different at the same time. We also chose the venue as it had on site accommodation as we knew family and friends would be travelling from a far.
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
Our colour scheme was light pink – because we got married in the summer we wanted something that was light and a pastel colour. Our theme was travel. Andy and I love to travel to new places and often do this via cruising. We therefore ended up naming all our tables after places we had been to and kept the theme going by having a map of the world for our table plan and suitcases for our wedding cake.
What source did you use for wedding inspiration?
PINTEREST!! This app is incredible and thanks to unlimited data with my phone contract I spent hours and hours on their looking through ideas. I also bought a few magazines along the way.
If you could turn back the clock before planning started, what advise would you give yourself?
I actually find this questions very difficult….because I was very happy with the way everything went and wouldn’t change a thing!
What was your favourite photograph from the day?
I have two – the one of my dad and I on the way to church in the car and the one of my husband and I in the car on the way to the reception from Church.
What song did you choose for your 1st dance?
Kodaline – The One. It was actually my husband that told me about the song and made me listen to it. He said the song reminded him of me when he listened to it and I instantly fell in love.
Was “Gary Derbridge Photography” the right photographer for you?
Gary had done my brothers wedding earlier on in the year and was wonderful. We were so happy with his photos that we hired him too.

Men’s suits: Burtons – hired for the day and were able to pay just a small amount extra so that we could take them back two days after the wedding. Saved a lot of stress not having to rush to take them back the next day!
