I loved working with them, and I have decided to feature their wedding on my Blog with some questions about them and their wedding day!
How did you meet?
We met at the university of leeds in 2009. Riyad was sub-warden of my halls. We had been friendly for a while and finally on a smurf fancy dress pub-crawl, Riyad kissed me in the student union.
What Wedding Venue/s did you choose and why?
We chose The Lawn because we had been to a friends wedding there and they had said the staff were excellent. The venue was a great space with different rooms so people could dance, relax in a quieter room or sit in the small bar space.
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
The colour theme was ‘sangria’ and ‘ultra burgandy!’ haha – we picked the bridesmaid dress colour to suit the bridesmaids and then took the colour theme from there. The florist was excellent at matching colours within that palette.
What source did you use for wedding inspiration?
pinterest and wedding magazines and our imaginations!
If you could turn back the clock before planning started, what advise would you give yourself?
Think about what represents you as a couple. Don’t get caught up with family drama – be patient with people who get over emotional but don’t waste your time on getting cross or exasperated! It’s your big day – it should be all about you! Also – ‘It will be alright on the night!’
What was your favourite photograph from the day?
We love the one of me coming down the aisle, it’s interesting to see everyone’s expressions and many faces and emotions can be seen in that one picture.
What song did you choose for your 1st dance?
Nobody does it better – Carly Simon. A James Bond soundtrack that we both love.
Was “Gary Derbridge Photography” the right photographer for you?
Definitely – such a great personality. He put everyone at ease and took some beautiful photographs.
