Hedingham Castle Wedding Photographer

I recently visited Hedingham Castle for the Wedding of Jane and Robbie. It’s a stunning venue in the north Essex countryside, and is always a pleasure to visit. The weather was perfect, making the gardens the ideal place for the guests to enjoy the day. The stepped lakes at the back of the venue make an idyllic backdrop. As you come down the driveway to the venue, perched up on the hill to your left hand side you can see the grand tower of the castle. It’s a simply stunning setting for a wedding to take place. I spent the whole day with Jane and Robbie, from the bridal preparations in the morning right through to the first dance and evening celebrations. I always love covering the whole day at a wedding as I feel it allows me a chance to tell the story of the wedding day. Ranging from the morning nerves through to the evening celebrations. Below you can find out a bit more about their special day, as well as about them as a couple. For all of you that follow my blog you may have also noticed that this is the wedding which I won one of my National Awards from. Please feel free to leave a comment below. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the photos!

What Wedding Venue/s did you choose and why?

We chose Hedingham Castle. The main reason we went for Hedingham was for the dramatic feel of the ceremony room in the castle and also the rest of the venue was lovely.

If you could turn back the clock before planning started, what advise would you give yourself?

Don’t over think it… if you do things properly the day will come together and you can make a million different choices about a million different things but go with what you like.

What was your favourite photograph from the day?

It is hard to pick just one. We really like the dramatic shots in front of the castle, the confetti shots, the way the first dance looked like it was only us under the moon and stars and the house made a great background for the formal shots.

What song did you choose for your 1st dance?

Little Things by One Direction

Was “Gary Derbridge Photography” the right photographer for you?

Very much so… For practical reasons such as proximity to where we live, within budget, etc. to the really important and valuable reasons such as Gary as a person being incredibly easy to get on with, very knowledgeable and incredible on the day itself with getting things done (we received lots of compliments from guests about him!)
