Wedding photographer at The Lawn
2 blog posts in one week? It can only mean one thing! The coronavirus lockdown has dried up all my work. EVERYTHING IS UP TO DATE! This gives me some spare time to catch up on the blog and share some of my awesome weddings from last year.
The next wedding to feature on the blog is the marriage of Ross and Spencer. I have been a friend of Ross’ family for years now, and have completed a few other jobs for them over the years. It’s always great to see old friends at the weddings that I cover.
They tied the knot at The Lawn wedding venue in Rochford, Essex. It’s probably the closest venue to my office, and one that I work at often. The fantastic staff down there help each wedding run like clockwork, and the beautiful gardens make a perfect backdrop for the photographs. You can browse through my website, and check out the Featured Venues page to see lots more weddings that I have photographed at The Lawn.
If you scroll down the page, you can read a Q&A that I sent over to Ross and Spencer. You can read their answers and find out a little more about their special day. I have also shared some of my favourite pictures that I captured throughout the day.
Gary made our day so special as well and took so much stress off us regarding the photo’s. He handled our group shots perfect with arranging the guests, and everyone couldn’t have spoken more highly about himRoss & Spencer
How did you meet?
Spencer and I simply met briefly on a night out in Chelmsford, and then started talking more through messages. Then we decided to met up again for dinner and things went from there really.
Who proposed and how?
Spencer proposed to me. I had just returned from America for 3 weeks (as the holiday was booked before Spencer and I got together, so he didn’t go). As a surprise/welcome home – Spencer took me away for the night away in the country side in Woburn. We then went for a walk together in a fielded area, and as we were walking over a bridge Spencer then proposed.
What Wedding Venue/s did you choose and why?
We chose The Lawn as our wedding venue. The main reason for this is because its a beautiful venue inside and out. And the venue is ours for the day and isn’t shared with other weddings. Also it allows the opportunity of pictures being taken outside in indoors depending on the weather. But also my mum and sister had got married there, so I kind of had no choice but to follow the tradition ha!
Where did you buy the suits?
We got our suits from Anthony Formal Wear in Billericay
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
We originally was going into our wedding with a rustic/neverland theme. However as time went on, whilst we kept a slight rustic feel, we made the wedding for traditional with a modern rustic twist. And the colour scheme became more blue, silver, white and pink. It was important to us to keep it traditional, but modernise it.
What source did you use for wedding inspiration?
A lot of it was very much our own ideas, and just visiting wedding venues and seeing things and piecing them all together. We didn’t rush. We took our time and carefully selected everything.
If you could turn back the clock before planning started, what advise would you give yourself?
DON’T STRESS SO MUCH. Especially leading up to the wedding, we worried about things not going to plan on the day or someone not turning up. But when I woke up on the day I just said to myself “what happens now happens, its to late to change anything.” and that’s so true. And nothing did go wrong, the day was perfect, and I just had the most amazing day.
What was your favourite photograph from the day?
It would be impossible to pick out one – but I would say the evening sunset shots of Spence and I are our favourite and so special. No one else was there at the time so it was a special moment
What song did you choose for your 1st dance?
Little Mix – Secret Love Song Part 2.
Was “Gary Derbridge Photography” the right photographer for you?
Yes – Gary made our day so special as well and took so much stress off us regarding the photo’s. He handled our group shots perfect with arranging the guests, and everyone couldn’t have spoken more highly about him.
