Wedding Photographer at The Reid Rooms Dunmow
Recently I visited The Reid Rooms in Dunmow near Chelmsford for the wedding of Anna and Danny. Below you can find some more information about them and their wedding day in this latest featured blog. Here goes…
How did you meet?
We met on a ‘blind date’ set up by mutual friends. Neither of us were too keen on the prospect but we decided to be brave just before Christmas of 2012. We didn’t look back after meeting just once so our friends must have known us better than we knew ourselves!
How did the he propose?
Danny proposed on a very normal Saturday morning over breakfast at home. Apparently he’d been planning to do it when we were away a couple of months later but he couldn’t wait / the moment felt right. I think he asked by accident to be honest lol.
What Wedding Venue/s did you choose and why?
We looked at a LOT of wedding venues! It was one of the most stressful parts of the wedding planning process. Right up until the self imposed deadline for decision making we were torn between two venues but decided upon The Reid Rooms as it felt the most ‘us’ of all the options. It was big enough for a good party but informal enough that it didn’t feel too overwhelming.
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
I suppose we had a fair bit of pink on the day but that wasn’t an intentional colour scheme in advance. It came mainly as a result of our bridesmaid wanting to wear that colour. The rest fell into place after that really.
What source did you use for wedding inspiration?
Pinterest! But also talking to each other about what we wanted from the day. Our ideas evolved over a period of time for sure.
If you could turn back the clock before planning started, what advise would you give yourself?
Get a budget in mind and then double it!!! No, just relax and enjoy the day and take in as much of it as you can. This is what all brides say but it is definitely true. I made a conscious effort to do this and have special moments from the day I will treasure forever. Our guests kept saying that we looked like we were having a good time and I think that shows in our photos.
What was your favourite photograph from the day?
Hmm, not sure really. All of the ones where we are laughing and enjoying ourselves! It doesn’t matter about the double chins as we look so happy!! We like a lot of the candid shots and had asked Gary for these.
What song did you choose for your 1st dance?
Both of us love music. My favourite part of any wedding has always been the first dance and I always take notice of what songs others choose; in fact it’s always my first question to friends when they attend weddings. We chose ‘Baby I’m Yours’ by the Arctic Monkeys as it was an old song with a modern twist. We had a few important songs at different points in the day; we probably noticed them more than our guests though.
Was “Gary Derbridge Photography” the right photographer for you?
Gary was the absolute perfect photographer for the day and has already been recommended to friends who are planning their weddings.
Your wedding suppliers?
Our caterers ‘Amaze in Taste‘ were fantastic as well as our band (208). The florist was Traditional Vintage Flower Company who were recommended; we couldn’t fault them either. Our cake was made by the Sweet Berry Bakery as Maxine is our friend and I would not have considered anyone else for this job. Our cake was incredible! Make up was done by Amy Phillips who, again, was perfect. Such good company on the wedding morning. All of our suppliers were fantastic and we don’t have any complaints at all.
The whole day was filled with love; not just the two of us but those around us and we are so pleased to have had a perfect day.
